Cautand diverse pe net, am dat peste o masina de curse prototip din anii '60, cu cateva chestii foarte interesante pentru vremea ei - Howmet TX:
- motorul era un ansamblu de doua turbine pe gaz conceputa pentru un elicopter militar;
- greutatea ansamblului de turbine - 77kg
- puterea ansamblului - 350cp;
- cuplul - 880Nm;
- turatie maxima - 57,000 rpm;
- din cauza constructiei ansamblului de turbine (ce actiona in trepte/cascada) si a cuplului, nu era necesara decat o singura treapta de viteza;
- initial nu avea marsarier, dar - fiind impus - s-a instalat un motor electric alimentat de turbina care se ocupa doar de mersul cu spatele.

Referitor la ultima fraza: asa ceva nu exista. :) Atat turbina cat si motorul electric sunt masini motoare, deci nu se pot cupla in serie. Probabil ca intre ele este un generator electric. Interesanta ar fi instalatia de comanda a marsarierului.

Scuze, din dorinta de a fi rapid in traducere am pus in plan secund claritatea...

Due to the use of a single-speed transmission, there was no gearing for reverse. Although Heppenstall initially wished to do without reverse, the FIA mandated its use and a small electric motor powered by the turbine was installed, allowing the car to move in reverse.

La modul concret, ma gandesc ca intre turbina si motorul electric exista un generator de curent ori un alternator si o baterie...

Wikipedia: In Europe, a limited edition "Harlekin" model was released in 1995. The Polo Harlekin featured multi-coloured body panels with a symmetrical combination of Tornado Red, Ginster Yellow, Pistachio Green and Chagall Blue. Harlekin Polos used the 1.6 petrol engine and featured special "Joker" pattern seats and bespoke gear knob and steering wheel.
